Historic Buildings & Public Benefits
  • Complex consist of: Bell Barn, Mule Barn, Feed Building, Two Worker’s Duplexes, small sheds, outhouses and misc. pens and fences.
  • Strawn buildings date to the 1920s
  • Buildings list on the National Register of Historic Places
  • Farm buildings would be an asset to the 1940 farm exhibit
  • Select buildings could also be used in 1890s farm town exhibit

Logistics and Funding
  • David Strawn wants buildings removed from property soon
  • Pioneer Settlement was to get building but lost grant funds to move buildings
  • David Strawn will donate buildings to the Florida Agricultural Museum
  • Use existing grant funds to move buildings -  additional funds may be needed
  • Route for moving buildings is long but has few obstacles
  • Grant will be needed to restore buildings and interpret them

  • Moving the buildings is the only way to save these nationally significant historic structures
  • These buildings would nearly complete the 1940’s farm exhibit Buildings would be preserved and enjoyed by the public.
  • Buildings and the story they tell would educate the public about Florida Agriculture.
