| Flagler County Library Board of
Trustees The Library Board of Trustees was created by the Board of County Commissioners through County Ordinance No. 87-4. Provision of public library services by the Board of County Commissioners is allowed by the home rule powers granted under Chapter 25.01 of the Florida Statutes. The purpose of the Library Board of Trustees is to "establish policies regarding the delivery of public library services to county residents; shall recommend for employment a Library Director; shall submit an annual operating budget to the Flagler county Board of Commissioners." The Library Board of Trustees consists of seven citizens appointed by the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners. The Library Board of Trustees normally meets every other month (occasionally a special meeting is held), and meetings last for approximately one hour. At the scheduled meetings, the Library Director presents and reviews issues relating to library issues, policies and operations. Votes are taken on items of business such as changes in library policy. Although the Library Board of Trustees is an advisory, not a governing board, it serves the purposes of building community support and providing for community feedback. |
