Submission of
Material
for the Flagler County
Public
Library web site......
The internet has its own language called html.
We can create a page or pages for your organization in this format
on
the Library web site. To make our work easier we prefer a Microsoft
Word file eg. doc. or txt. These 'convert' easily for us. We can
also work from your printed literature, or documents.
Text
It is very easy for us to convert any "Microsoft Word" file, saved in
the .doc (document) format. If you have inserted pictures in your .doc
file, they will come over to us very well, if you make the file an
attachment in an email message to us. It is also easy to use any txt
(text) files. If you save a document in Word "formatted" format, it
becomes more difficult for us as we have to manually convert, which
takes some time. Watch out about using "fancy type faces", they look
good in brochures, but a viewer's browser may not have these faces
available, in which case your page will revert to a "default" type face,
it may not look too well. "normal faces" are "default" - eg. Times or
Arial.
Pictures
The internet requires that pictures be fairly small, otherwise the
loading time of the page becomes too long. We are happy to scan
pictures for you, and excellent results can be obtained from printed
literature, or documents, provided we keep them reasonably small.
The internet will accept pictures in gif or jpeg formats, others we have
to convert. We try to layout and plan our pages somewhat 'plain' with
the 'load time' always in mind. Remember computer monitors have a
screen resolution of 72 dots per inch, so all picture scans should be at
or near that size, otherwise they will be too large. Acceptable
formats are jpeg and gif.
Be sure if you have an email address to let us know, and
we include an
automatic email link in your material, so you can be contacted directly
from your page. If you have changes, please look at the top of your
screen, note the location address of your page, and include this address
in your email to us to save time in looking you up.
If you have a web page now, we can "link" to it on the Library Website.
Time permitting we will do a more elaborate 'site' for your organization
if you provide the materials and graphics in an easily convertable
format.
Also if you need some help, just email
webmaster@flaglerlibrary.org
and
we will get right back to you.
Files in Microsoft Publisher format eg. .pub can be converted, but
again
it is not a perfect thing, and we will do the best we can to follow your
original format. The problem is as always, the library site is growing
very rapidly with lots of information, and time of our webmaster is
limited too.
Material may be sent via email, just make the file an attachment to your
mail. Address it to:
webmaster@flaglerlibrary.org
We can also take material on floppy disc (PC format only), or orginal
photos, which can be returned to you. Right now the largest material we
can scan is 11 x 14" (remember we have to make the files small so they
will come over in a reasonable time)
The Library web site is growing rapidly and we will try to respond to you
as quickly as we can.
Inclusion of material is under the authority of the Library Board, in
general materials submitted should be of a non-commercial, and
non-political nature. (there are excellent Flagler County websites that
do accept commerical materials). We can take no responsiblity for
accuracy or completeness of materials put onto the site.
Materials sent to library, should be addressed to:
